I had essentially "lost" this wine.
Had it in CT, said it was somewhere it wasn't, so I deleted it from inventory. Tonight with garlic/herbs de provence lamb kabobs, thought I'd grab a syrah. Lo and behold, there it was at the bottom of my Danby.
I'm going to say this is without question the best $29-32 wine I've tasted. It's got the fruit-basket goodness of Carlisle (nice blackberry/blackcurrant), the pepper/spice/acidity of Northern Rhone and you can really taste the rocks/soil here too. Just explosively good stuff.
Anyone want to split a case from Empire Wine? It's $19 to ship Ground (overnight to MA essentially), $29 and change a bottle before shipping.
I feel like a Pharoah drinking this.

Peter,
I'm with you on this one. I had two bottles with friends/family over the holidays. I know it's way too young, but it is a very nice syrah - lots of dark fruits and a little smoke/pepper. I need to hide the next two bottles to see what this becomes in a few years. Wish I had picked up more.
