Sojourn Cellars Empty Sojourn Cellars

Post  Zachary L A N G Mon Jan 19, 2009 10:18 pm

Like the people or not, I just got the "we're going to send our email soon" email, and this is what I like to see!

Although we have experienced significant price increases for our Pinot noir fruit, barrels and other expenditures, we have decided to not raise prices in 2009, and we are continuing with our policy of "Shipping Included" for orders of at least three bottles.

(Ps - I love that all the wineries send emails to say they will be sending emails...That has always just cracked me up.)

Craig is very good guy, and totally understands the market place right now. He and I regularly talk about the biz, and he knows that you need to make the consumer happy.

Fair warning, I do sell his wines, but I make sure to send folks his way.

Craig is a great guy. He hosted us at his house for a tasting last year. He also has a really cool dog who has been trained to sniff out TCA. I was happy to see that they are not raising prices this year as I like his cabs as well as his pinots. And yes, Ian is WL Ian.

A dog that is trained to sniff out TCA! How sweet! I wonder if I could train my dogs to do that...first step would be to have some wine that has TCA, and since all my bottles are flawless, I'll have to get some from Leslie or Cris...

Thanks Bob! Zach hooked me up with this cool new forum. I am a little new to forums other than the WLTV forum. I am excited to see what you guys are posting! And it is a good distraction from working.

Ian, are you going to obtain the complete line-up of Pinots...even the latest ones added to the Sangiac and Sonoma?

Best,

Kenney

Not sure yet what I am going to buy. Most of it depends on what Craig has left.

I wish I knew what they were...Last night I had two barrel samples of two 2007 Sojourn barrel samples. They are from two new vineyards that Sojourn is starting to source grapes from. I am lacking the details here, but maybe Kyle can fill us in. I thought they were both quite good, but a little acidic. I have minimal experience with barrel samples, so i don't know what this hold for the future, but they seemed good to me.

it probably was the 07 Gaps Crown and Windsor Oaks

I love Sojourn and it will be hard not to go deep on this one. The two new pinots make it even more difficult as well.

As a thread drift, is it just me or are you all seeing this Gap's Crown vineyard more and more over the last year or so? Must be a young up and coming site. Landmark and KB source there, I know, as well as MacPhail, Belle Glos and Sojourn. Who else?
