Had a bottle last night with a CPK frozen pizza as I was too beat down to cook anything. This is the third bottle from a case purchased at Costco a couple of months back. First bottle was good, but the second bottle was plenty hot and jammy. Last night's example was very good. No heat at all with a really good balance of the dark fruit, tannin and pepper. For $17 a bottle this can be some killer juice. I guess bottle variation is to be expected with 70K cases of wine produced.

I've only had one bottle of Seghesio Zinfandel, I think it was '06, and I didn't like it. Very possibly bottle variation, I suppose, as it seems everybody likes the stuff

For the money Seghesio makes a fine Zin...my personal favorite is the "old vines"...sells for under $30.

Steve, the Alexander Home Ranch Vineyard is also very good and Costco carries it for $26...but it usually goes pretty fast.

For those prices, I'd rather go with Scherrer OMV zin

I don't think I ever tried one but I'll certainly be on the lookout. Thanks Bill

I've had 3 bottles of this as well and the first two were average. 3rd one was good.

I personally think that the '05 was better and even the '06. This is good, not great.

Agreed on the '05. I went through a case of that as well within a year's time. I really think at these production numbers and price point, bottle variation has to come into play b/c they are using SO many lots to blend.

Had one bottle just before it made the top 10. Thought it was good/excellent and consistent with past vintages. Then the WS list came out and the shit flew out the door in multiple case lots. We did just get some 375s in though, so I may try it again.
