  • N.V. H. Billiot Champagne Brut Reserve Grand Cru - France, Champagne, Ambonnay, Champagne (1/19/2009)
    Lovely balance and richness really make this a step up from the previous release. Had a nice buttery quality towards the finish. Elegant peach and cherry fruits with good acidity. Lovely wine. Tons of lees in this bottle.

Drank this over two nights last week. The $11 price hike late last year was painful but even at $50 this is still an excellent value. This release seems more balanced and and all around excellent than the previous release which while great was more about red fruits and richness.
