We had some '99 Dalla Valle Cab last night as well...freakin' baby of a wine....but stellar none the less.

2005 Maybach Materium
Bought three off the mailing list, first one I've ever tried. Rich and powerful, but maybe a little too much so for my tastes. Everyone likes this alot more than I did -- not to say it was bad, but it didn't light the lamp for me like it has for others. While there is clearly more stuffing in the Maybach, right now, for my money - I'd rather have two bottles of the Rivers Marie cab. I won't be opening another for at least a year, if not 3. I will continue to purchase as I love TRB wines.

William, just curious, did your bottle go through a weird phase when it tasted like the burned surface of a creme brulee? Mine did after 3-4 hours opened, then the next day was normal again.

I wouldn't go so far as to say burnt rubber, but there was a slightly off putting nose to it about 90 minutes in (I pulled the cork, threw it into a decanter and left it). It had a really nice mouthfeel, but I wasn't fully on board here. I had read your notes, so I was paying slightly closer attention than I normally would at a socail/family gathering like this.

Well, that's why is frigging wine. One bottle is just one bottle. But it did not taste like burnt rubber, just like burnt sugar. In itself is rather attractive, my grandma used to burn some on a hot plate to make the kitched smell nice, but in a wine it's just overwhelming. Anyway, it blew off the next day.
Thanks for the note William.

Not as often as we should. But for visitors we may make an extra effort.
Just PM me or any of our SD winos and we'll make something happen.
