2006 Chateau Petrus--Release Price of $2,000.00
I just looked at the Wine Spectator Insider and it give the '06 Petrus 94pts and has the release price stated at $2K. Who does Moueix think he is...T.G. Anderson?

What recession? I guess they are forgetting the leftover '05 inventory.
if it is poured at UGC, I'll try it out before I buy my case

Re: 2006 Chateau Petrus--Release Price of $2,000.00
That's crazy. It always gets me how the frenchiphiles pooh pooh the price of cali wines but yet let things like this go by unchallenged? I can name at least as many bordoughs that are as pricier, if not more pricier than many of the best cali wines. And the $2000 is surely the equivelent of the GH, just with a big following.......scary huh?
All the first and the first look-alikes from left and right bank far outnumber the few (GH, Screaming Eagle, and crazy as it sounds, Scarecrow amongst a few more). And two of those release for far less.
What's in your wallet?

Yeah, I could flip for an easy $200 profit. But I want to keep them to try.

The 05 Scarecrow was probably my WOTY 08. I don't swim in those waters, but I would be a buyer all day if I could afford it.

Yeah, $300 on the low end on the secondary market is a bit much.

2K a bottle is ridiculous, especially when one can go back and get a better, more ready to drink, bottle.
