TN - 2006 Rhys Alesia Pinot Noir
I bought this on the recommendations of the Brekkes and Whetbluestones, who pushed it like crazy. Pretty good stuff, particularly considering that my preferences are tending away from the CA pinots lately.
Extremely light in color, good acidity, oak too prominent at present, but I bet this wine will easily shine in 2-3 more years. It's good drinking now, just too much oak for my palate. Seems, however, to be a high quality pinot noir. 90pts
No kirsch or strained yogurt, therefore, it's got to be less than 100 points.

Nice job on the new board !!
You chose the most approachable of the Rhys/Alesia wines. I've had other bottlings from Rhys/Alesia that probably need 5 years to really start to shine. It's kind of nice to find tannins and alcohol levels below 15% in a Cali Pinot.

Don't blame me, blame Mel, if she ever returns from Hawaii - she picked what I opened that day.Bill Tex Landreth wrote:And you called ME a baby killer.
Jan, awesome avatar! You must be getting pretty serious with Guitar Hero, huh?

This bottle doesn't need as much time Bill. This one is actually declassified Family Farm because it wasn't up to snuff for that label. It will be best with some short cellaring and drinks pretty well now but not like the Alpine which will reward several years of patience.

Yeah, I've pretty much replaced my old wardrobe with black leather. I just realized that those assless chaps don't work quite so well when the wind chill is 50 below.
