TN: 2005 Dutton Goldfield Freestone Hill Pinot Noir

This is a seriously bitchin wine. I havent had one in a while but it really hit a note with me. Tangy and zippy with acidity but not spoofulated fruit. This does not suck

What is the varietal, I'm not familiar with it?

I've got two more in the cellar.....popped the first one a little young. I'll be laying these down for another 12 months most likely.

  Youthful and vibrant this Freestone Hill Vineyard Pinot sits on a south facing slope about 5 miles from the coast. The unmistakable taste of Pinot was there but there as also a Syrah quality to the wine. Floral and spicey it also brings the right amount of cherry and acidity to lay it down for a few more years. Very good....very interesting. (86 pts.)

I dig the spiciness of it, very Vosne

I really think this one will be a BIG step up with a few more years on it. Had the '06 at wine road last year and didn't think it compared, but then, there was so many people I could hardly think.

I have one bottle given to me by a special friend. I will hold on to it for a couple years and pop the cork. Thanks for the note!
